Below are several committees that could use your talents:
Library Volunteer & Student Learning Center Volunteer Coordinator Randy Buescher is looking for dedicated volunteers to work during school lunch periods and before/after school. These facilities need parents to chaperone so our students can do research and homework on computers, print out homework and conduct group sessions with classmates. Students are only able to use the facilities and do their work if parents are on site to oversee these centers. Please support our students by giving 1-2 hours once per week, twice per month, or sign up as an emergency substitute. To volunteer or learn more, please contact Randy Buescher.
Hospitality hosts Parents’ Back to School Night, 8th Grade Open House, Parent Forums, and more. Volunteers are needed to plan, advertise, and host events throughout the school year. Contact Melvina Lloyd.
The Events Committee plans and executes the two biggest events of the year – the fall “Friend-raiser” and the Spring Gala. Many volunteers are needed to plan events, obtain silent auction items, man check-in/check-out tables, decorate, and more. Contact Janet Roderick for more information.
Counseling Boosters work with the Counselors to facilitate College Knowledge, parent forums, and College Ambassadors, who host College Admissions Representatives. Contact Jeaneane Quinn for more information.
Arts Boosters support the music, theater, and visual arts programs at the school, lending volunteer support for concerts, fundraising for special events, and more. Contact Michelle Dodd to get involved.
Sports Boosters work to make sure our athletes and coaches have what they need to perform at the highest level. They help in fundraising, and run the 3 sports banquets each year. Our Sports Booster chair, Julie Bedore, is looking for at least one parent per sport to join her committee.
Academic Boosters are the liaison between teachers and school clubs. They help find volunteers for class events, provide seed money for newly created clubs (such as Model UN), and work to fill Teacher Wish Lists. Our Academic Booster Chair, Cairon Dietsch-Jones, is looking for members to join the Advisory Boards (especially for Pre-Law and Pre-Engineering).
Corporate Development is a new and exciting committee this year. It’s not just about corporate sponsorships – FOJ would like to forge relationships for corporate gifts-in-kind, mentoring partnerships, business partners, and other opportunities. Contact David Tabak.
The Joneswear committee sells Jones fan gear in the Jones Store and at school events. Contact Cairon Dietsch-Jones for more information at Joneswear@friendsofjones.org.
Communications is responsible for helping coordinate information between Friends of Jones, JCP teachers/staff and parents/guardians. Communications is responsible for the website, weekly newsletter and Facebook page. If you have any graphic design, web and/or photography experience, please let us know. Contact Elaine Glusac for more information.
